The GEISA 2003 spectroscopic database


The development of GEISA (Gestion et Etude des Informations Spectroscopiques Atmosphériques : Management and Study of Spectroscopic Information) was started in 1976 at Laboratoire de Météorologie Dynamique (LMD) in France [Chédin et al. (1982), Husson et al. (1992, 1994), Jacquinet-Husson et al. (1999, 2003a, 2003b)]. GEISA is a computer-accessible spectroscopic database, designed to facilitate accurate forward atmospheric radiative transfer calculations using a line-by-line and (atmospheric) layer-by-layer approach.

Since its 1997 edition, GEISA 1997 (Jacquinet-Husson et al. 1999), the GEISA spectroscopic database, has been updated twice: partially in 2001 (as published in Atmospheric and Oceanic Optics, Vol. 16, No. 3, 2003) and extensively in 2003.


The current 2003 edition of GEISA (GEISA 2003) is a system comprising three independent sub-databases devoted respectively to:
